Digital marketing apprenticeship standard

The standard pathway is a balance between the social media and SEO pathways, which provides an insight into digital marketing as a whole with a blended focus. It provides a standard set of masterclasses and workshops that encapsulates digital marketing, ensuring you receive the ultimate digital marketing programme.

This level 3 apprenticeship training programme will help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to define, design, build and implement campaigns across a variety of online, digital and social media platforms.

You’ll usually be part of a team and report into a marketing or IT manager, working to briefs and instructions which are focussed on driving customer acquisition, as well as engaging with and retaining existing customers. Over time, you’ll take on increased responsibilities and may begin to lead on certain aspects of plans or campaigns during this programme.

It is suitable for those at the beginning of their digital marketing career, be that new to work entirely or looking to reskill into one of the fastest growing trades in the world.

Your job title may be Digital Marketing Assistant, Digital Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing Coordinator, Campaign Executive, Social Media Executive, Content Coordinator, Email Marketing Assistant, SEO Executive, Analytics Executive, Digital Marketing Technologist, or something similar.

On completion of this programme, you will have achieved accredited qualifications and will be able to apply for a place on the independent Register of IT Technicians and joining the Chartered Institute for Marketing (CIM) as an Affiliate (Professional) member.

Things to consider

Entry requirements

You must have been a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake this training programme.

In addition, you must be able to commit to the full length of the programme and be able to meet the programme modules through your job role.

If you do not have a level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English, you will be required to work towards achieving these qualifications as part of your apprenticeship.

How will you learn?

Over the duration of 16 months, you will receive a combination of face-to-face and online training and support.

You will undertake an online assessment that will help us to understand your learning style and needs, then we will tailor your learning experience accordingly.

We ensure that you stay on track to complete your programme on time by managing your progress through our state-of-the-art e-portfolio system, Smart Assessor.

At the end of your programme, your learnt knowledge, skills and behaviours will be assessed by an independent assessor in your end-point assessment (EPA).

Off-the-job training

As part of the apprenticeship, alongside your job role, a minimum of 6 hours per week of your time in work must be dedicated to improving new skills, knowledge and behaviours.

You will undertake an online assessment that will help us to understand your learning style and needs, then we will tailor your learning experience accordingly.

This can be any time devoted to learning and improving new skills without interruption.
